Overhaul and Maintenance of Twin Screw Extruder

Ⅰ. Maintenance of the twin screw extruder


In order to ensure the safety and stability of the twin-screw extruder and prolong its service life, the maintenance of the twin-screw extruder must be strengthened. The basic contents are as follows:


1. Maintenance during equipment operation


No debris is allowed in the material, and hard materials such as metal and sand are strictly prohibited from entering the hopper and barrel; when opening the suction chamber cover, foreign objects should also be prevented from falling into the barrel; the twin-screw extruder should be reserved after heating; provide sufficient heat time, and start operation after cranking before starting; the screw is only allowed to start at low speed, and the idling time should not exceed 2min. The feeder should gradually increase the rate after feeding.


 2. Daily maintenance of the host


 The oil and lubricating oil should be changed every 4000h. If the main motor is a DC motor, the carbon brush of the motor should be checked once a month, and a record should be made. If necessary, the carbon brush should be replaced; the electric control cabinet should be purged once a month. Check the wear of the screw and barrel quarterly and make records; check the gearbox's gears, bearings and oil seals once a year; when the machine is shut down for a long time, the machine should be treated with anti-corrosion and anti-fouling.


Ⅱ. Disassembly and maintenance of the twin screw extruder screw and maintenance


1. Disassembly of the twin screw extruder


(1) Extract the material and coke on the surface of the screw. Note that the tools used for cleaning are copper plates, copper rods, and copper wire brushes. Steel rods are not allowed to strike.


(2) Confirm that the material in the barrel is completely melted, remove the head, and pull out the screw.


2. Maintenance knowledge of twin screw extruder


(1) After the extruder is used for 500 hours, iron filings or other impurities from the gears are in the reduction box. Therefore, the gears should be cleaned, and the reduction box lubricant should be replaced.


(2) In case of production interruption, stop the main drive and heating. When the power supply is restored, each section of the barrel must be reheated to the specified temperature and kept for a period of time before starting the dual screw extruder.


(3) After the machine has been used for a while, a comprehensive inspection should be done to check the tightness of all screws.


(4) If the steering of the gauge and pointer is found to be complete, check whether the contact of the thermocouple, etc., is in good condition.
