Precautions for Use and Maintenance of Dual Screw Extruder Barrel

The inner surface hardness of the barrel of the dual screw extruder is higher than that of the screw, and its damage is later than that of the screw. The scrapping of the barrel is the increase in the inner diameter due to wear and tear over time.


Ⅰ. The repair method of the dual screw extruder barrel is as follows:


1. If the diameter of the barrel increases due to wear, if there is still a certain nitriding layer, the inner hole of the barrel can be directly bored and ground to a new diameter size, and then a new screw can be prepared according to this diameter.


2. The inner diameter of the dual screw extruder barrel is machined and trimmed to re-cast tungsten carbide alloy with a thickness of 1~ 2mm, and then finish to the diameter size.


3. In general, the homogenization section of the barrel wears quickly. This section ( 5~7D long ) can be reamed and inserted, and then equipped with a nitrided alloy steel bushing. The diameter of the inner hole refers to the diameter of the screw. In the normal fit clearance, the processing and preparation are carried out.


Ⅱ. The use and maintenance of the dual screw extruder barrel


1. Routine maintenance is a regular routine work, which does not occupy the operating hours of the equipment, and is usually completed during the driving period. The key is to clean the machine, lubricate the moving parts, tighten the loose threaded parts, check and adjust the motor, control instruments, working parts and pipelines in time.


2. Regular maintenance is generally carried out after the dual screw extruder runs continuously for 2500-5000 hours. The machine needs to be disassembled to check, measure and identify the wear of main parts, replace parts that have reached the specified wear limit, and repair damaged parts.


3. It is not allowed to run empty, so as to avoid rolling of the extruder screws and barrels.


4. If abnormal sound occurs when the double screw extruder is running, it should be stopped immediately for inspection or repair.


5. Strictly prevent metal or other sundries from falling into the hopper, so as not to damage the screw and barrel. In order to prevent iron debris from entering the barrel, a magnetic part or a magnetic frame can be installed at the feeding port of the material entering the barrel, to prevent the debris from falling into the material, the material must be sieved in advance.


6. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the production environment, and do not let garbage impurities mixed into the material to block the filter plate, which will affect the output and quality of the product and increase the resistance of the machine head.


7. When the dual screw extruder needs to be stopped for a long time, anti-rust grease should be applied to the working surfaces of the screw, barrel and head. The small screw should be suspended in the air or placed in a wooden box, and should be leveled with a wooden block to prevent the screw from being deformed or bruised.
