Advantages and Operation Precautions of Twin Screw Extruder

Ⅰ. The advantages of twin-screw extruder 


1. The dual screw extruder has a wide range of applications and can process a variety of materials.


2. The twin-screw extruder's accurate metering and reasonable feeding method are the keys to strictly implementing the formula and ensuring product quality. To meet the needs of various products, we are equipped with a variety of feeding methods, such as volume measurement, dynamic weight loss measurement, and so on, based on the performance of the material and the needs of the users.


3. Lower production costs. Currently, when changing the color of a common dual screw extruder, a large amount of cleaning material is required to clean the machine. It is time-consuming, energy-intensive, and wasteful of raw materials. This issue can be solved by using a split twin-screw extruder. When changing colors, the barrel can be quickly opened for manual cleaning in a matter of minutes. Cleaning materials can be eliminated or used less frequently, resulting in cost savings.


4. The twin-screw extruder improves labor efficiency. During equipment maintenance, the heating and cooling system of the ordinary twin-screw extruder is often removed first. Then the screw is drawn out as a whole. The split twin screw is not needed. Just loosen a few bolts, turn the worm gear box handle device, lift the barrel's upper half to open the entire barrel, and then perform maintenance. This not only shortens the maintenance time but also reduces the labor intensity.


5. The plastic modification granulator gets the wear condition of the wearing parts. Due to the convenient opening, the wear degree of the threaded element and the inner liner of the barrel can be found at any time so that effective maintenance or replacement can be carried out. It will not be discovered when there is a problem with the extruded product, causing waste.


Ⅱ. Precautions for the operation of the main engine of the dual screw extruder


1. The rated current of the main engine is the rated current of the motor. During normal operation, it should be kept below 80% of the rated current to allow for overload protection (please refer to the motor nameplate). During normal operation, the rated voltage and frequency of the host should be controlled at more than 50% of the rated voltage and frequency.


2. The head pressure sensor has a digital display meter. In normal operation, the digital display meter should have a reading of less than 10MPa. The operator should always keep an eye on the digital display meter's reading. If it exceeds 15MPa, check to see if the flow channel is blocked at this time, stop feeding immediately, and gradually reduce the main engine screw speed. Reduce the number on the sensor's digital display meter to less than 10MPa. If the digital display meter reading remains high, it should be shut down manually for inspection.


3. The operator of the twin-screw extruder should regularly check the tail lubricating oil pressure gauge (value 0.1-0.2MPa). If it is lower than 0.05MPa, immediately stop the machine and check the oil circuit, oil pump, motor, and oil pump to protect the transmission box gears. 


4. During regular operation, there should be operation records.
