Twin Screw Extruders are Highly Favored

Twin screws are very important small parts in the extrusion industry. It can be said that it is very common for factories and enterprises to produce twin screws. And it is almost certain that of all the accessories, only the twin screw device is the most widely used.

Ⅰ. About parameters of twin screw extruder

The diameter of the screw refers to the outer diameter of the screw, which is represented by D, and the unit is mm. Like the single-screw extruder, the screw diameter of the dual screw extruder is an important technical parameter, and its size indicates the production capacity of the dual screw extruder to a certain extent. The larger the screw diameter is, the greater the production capacity will be.

The length-diameter ratio of the screw refers to the ratio of the length of the threaded part on the screw (that is, the effective length of the screw) to the diameter of the screw, expressed by L/D. The L is the effective length of the screw, and the D is the diameter of the screw. For intermeshing co-rotating dual screw extruders, the aspect ratio on the product sample should refer to the maximum possible aspect ratio since the screw aspect ratio can vary.

The screw length-diameter ratio is an important technical performance parameter. In a certain sense, it indicates the ability of the twin screw extruder to complete specific production tasks and functions (together with the number of screw revolutions and feeding amount), and it can also indicate the size of the production capacity. It should be noted, however, that the concept of aspect ratio is not as important as it is in single screw extruders. In addition to being suitable for specific tasks, it is not the longer the aspect ratio is, the more productive it is.

Rotation range of the screw: The screw speed of the twin screw extruder can generally be adjusted steplessly. Its screw has a minimum revolution and a maximum revolution, the current maximum speed can reach more than 1000r/min The higher the rotational speed is, the greater the shear force is and the more the output becomes.

Ⅱ. The advantages of twin screw extruders

1. High torque and high speed

At present, the development trend of dual screw extruders in the world is to develop in the direction of high torque, high speed and low energy consumption. The effect of high rotational speed is high productivity. Split dual screw extruders fall into this category, with speeds up to 500 rpm. Therefore, it has unique advantages in processing high-viscosity and heat-sensitive materials.

2. Visually understand the wear of wearing parts

Because the twin screw extruder is easy to open, the wear degree of the threaded elements and the inner barrel of the barrel can be found at any time, so that effective maintenance or replacement can be carried out. In order to avoid problems in extrusion products only found, resulting in unnecessary waste.

3. Improve labor efficiency

During equipment maintenance, the heating and cooling systems of the common twin screw extruder are often removed first, and then the screw is pulled out as a whole. The split twin screw does not need, just loosen a few bolts, turn the worm gear box handle device to lift the upper half of the barrel to open the entire barrel, and then carry out maintenance. This not only shortens the maintenance time, but also reduces the labor intensity.

4. Reduce production costs

When making masterbatches, it is often necessary to change colors. If a product change is necessary, the open processing area can be opened within a few minutes, and the mixing process can be analyzed by observing the melt profile over the entire screw. The split twin screw extruder can solve this problem. When changing the color, the barrel can be quickly opened for manual cleaning in just a few minutes. In this way, no or less cleaning materials can be used, which saves costs.

5. High output and high quality

With other advantages of ordinary twin screw extruders, it can achieve high output and high quality.
