As high-performance fibers continue to expand into applications such as defense, marine engineering, and advanced textiles, the market for ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber is developing rapidly. As a key component in the fiber production line, large-scale twin-screw extrusion systems are also seeing increasing demand.
In the third quarter of 2026, KYMACH secured an order for 16 sets of 125-series large twin-screw extruders for UHMWPE fiber production. The order reflects the growing demand for KYMACH's large-scale extrusion equipment and its accumulated experience in this application.
UHMWPE fiber production uses a specialized slurry or solution-based feedstock, which places high demands on the sealing performance, process stability, and reliability of the extrusion system.
Material leakage can be a significant challenge during production. If not properly controlled, leakage may result in material loss and can also affect equipment reliability and service life.
Based on its experience with this type of material, KYMACH has developed corresponding approaches in equipment design and process integration to address the specific requirements of UHMWPE fiber production.
Industrial UHMWPE fiber production is commonly based on the gel-spinning and subsequent hot-drawing process.
In this process, UHMWPE powder, typically with a molecular weight above 1 × 10⁶, is combined with a suitable solvent such as decalin, paraffin oil, or white mineral oil, together with an appropriate antioxidant package.
The resulting solution is extruded through a spinneret and rapidly cooled to form a gel fiber. The subsequent extraction, drying, and high-ratio hot-drawing stages increase the crystallinity and molecular orientation of the fiber, resulting in high-strength and high-modulus UHMWPE fiber.
Depending on the solvent system and process configuration, industrial production can generally be categorized into different process routes, including dry and wet processing approaches.
KYMACH provides extrusion equipment and process integration based on the customer's selected process route and material characteristics. The equipment is designed to support stable processing from material dissolution and extrusion through gel formation and subsequent fiber processing.
KYMACH's experience in this field has been accumulated through long-term application work.
To date, over 100 UHMWPE fiber production lines within China are equipped with KYMACH-supplied extrusion systems.
This installed base provides KYMACH with extensive practical experience in equipment commissioning, process optimization, and long-term operation. It also provides an accumulated understanding of the processing characteristics associated with different UHMWPE production routes.
From managing variations in slurry viscosity to coordinating the extrusion process with downstream drawing requirements, KYMACH's experience allows the extrusion system to be configured according to the specific requirements of each production line.
This application experience was an important consideration in the customer's decision to place the 16-set order for 125-series twin-screw extruders.
Producing and delivering 16 sets of 125-series twin-screw extruders simultaneously places significant demands on manufacturing capacity, production planning, machining, and final assembly.
Large twin-screw extruders are complex systems requiring precise control throughout the manufacturing process. Key challenges include the dimensional and alignment control of large barrels and screw components, precision machining of the heavy-duty gearbox, and compensation for thermal expansion during final assembly.
To support the production of large-scale equipment, KYMACH has upgraded its heavy machining and assembly capabilities and established dedicated production areas for large components.
These manufacturing processes are supported by precision machining and inspection procedures to ensure dimensional accuracy and assembly quality for each 125-series unit.

A well-organized manufacturing system is essential when multiple large machines need to be produced and delivered within the same project schedule.
KYMACH operates dedicated workshops for large-scale equipment manufacturing, supported by CNC machining centers, large horizontal boring and milling machines, and specialized inspection equipment.
This manufacturing structure covers key stages from component machining to final equipment assembly and testing.
For an order involving 16 units, production scheduling and supply-chain coordination are particularly important. KYMACH's production management system enables multiple machines to be manufactured in parallel while maintaining control over equipment quality and production progress.
From customized equipment design to final assembly and material trials, each stage is coordinated according to the project schedule to support controlled and predictable delivery.

From experience accumulated across more than 100 UHMWPE fiber production lines, to equipment adaptation for different process routes, and from large-scale equipment manufacturing to batch production and delivery, KYMACH continues to develop its capabilities in the high-performance fiber extrusion sector.
For UHMWPE fiber applications, the extrusion system is an important part of the overall production process. Equipment
