Faults and Treatment Methods of the Double Screw Extruder

What are the classifications and structures of double screw extruders?


Ⅰ. Temperature control system of the double screw extruder


1. The temperature of a certain section of the host is too high


(1) Cooling system failure


① Check whether the solenoid valve is normal, and under normal circumstances, disassemble the solenoid valve core and blow with an air pump;


②Whether the water pipe or cylinder is blocked.


(2) The temperature control meter fails


①Whether the OUT2 light of the high temperature section is on;


②The shut-off valve is opened too small.


(3) The solid state relay or bidirectional thyristor is damaged: replace the solid state or thyristor.


(4) The screw shear is too strong: appropriately weaken it.


2. The temperature of a certain zone of the main machine of the double screw extruder is too low


(1) The temperature control meter fails: whether the OUT1 light is on when the temperature is too low;


(2) The heater power is too small or the heater half is damaged or short-circuited;


(3) The shut-off valve is opened too much, disassemble the solenoid valve core and blow with an air pump.


Ⅱ. The host system of the double screw extruder


Automatic parking:


1. Oil pump failure: check whether the motor protection switch has tripped;


2. Melt pressure alarm: check whether the melt pressure alarm value is correct; change the net of the machine head; the temperature of the machine head is low;


3. The ammeter exceeds the limit: increase the speed of the main engine; reduce the feeding amount;


4. Reduce governor failure: check the cause and reset after handling;


5. Whether other auxiliary equipment linked with it alarms.


Ⅲ. The feeding system of the double screw extruder


Automatic shutdown: Whether the governor is faulty; the speed of the feeder is too low; the material is too large; whether the feeding screw is suitable for the material.


Ⅳ. The lubrication system of the double screw extruder


The oil pump does not work: check the wiring; check the motor switch.


Ⅴ. The cooling system of the double screw extruder


1. The water pump does not work: check the circuit; check the motor switch;


2. The cooling water does not pass: the water pump does not work; the water volume is insufficient; whether the water pressure is between 0.2-0.4MPa.


Ⅵ. The vacuum system of the double screw extruder


1. The vacuum pump does not work: check the circuit; check the motor switch;


2. There is no indication on the vacuum gauge:


(1) The valve is not opened;


(2) There is really a leak;


(3) The water intake of the vacuum pump is too small;


(4) The vacuum chamber is blocked.


Ⅶ. The hydraulic station system of the double screw extruder


No pressure: the overflow valve core is blocked; the hydraulic oil is too little; the seal is damaged; the oil filter is damaged.


Ⅷ. The problems that will occur in the operation of the twin-screw extruder machine


1. The gearbox produces oil foam: too much oil is added; the gearbox is not ventilated.


2. The screw plasticization effect is not good: the screw combination of the twin screw extruder machine is too weak; the screw is worn out seriously; the temperature is not suitable.


3. Material emission from vacuum chamber: the main engine speed is too fast; the screw combination is unreasonable; the plasticization of the material is not good.


4. Frequently broken strips: the material is not well plasticized; there are too many impurities in the material; the vacuum is not enough, and there are too many pores.


5. The material is too wet: discharge the water early; move the position of the blow dryer and the pelletizer backward; reduce the speed of the main engine and the pelletizer.


6. The material is too biased: the temperature of the material is too high; the air pressure of the pelletizer is too large.


7. The length of the particles is different: the die is blocked; the temperature of the die is uneven.


8. Hot-cut and easy-to-block pipes: the material temperature is too high; add a section before the tee; the angle of one-meter straight pipes and elbows should not be too large.


9. The pelletizer can't hold down the strips: check if there is air pressure.


10. Particles with burrs: Check whether the cutter of the double screw extruder machine is flush with the die; the gap between the fixed knife and the movable knife.


11. The temperature of the water tank is too high: check whether the external circulating water is flowing; the position of the water tank is too low.
