What Are the Reasons and Solutions for the Failure of the Double-screw Extruder?

Ⅰ. Failure analysis of double-screw extruder:


1. The screw does not operate normally


Reason: hard metal objects fall into the spiral groove, block the spiral groove, and cannot feed normally; the feed port is blocked or bridged by foreign objects.


Treatment method: increase the feeding speed of the double-screw extruder to keep the feeding stable; remove the foreign matter at the feeding port and eliminate the bridging phenomenon; if it is confirmed that the metal foreign matter falls into the spiral groove, immediately stop the screw to disassemble the screw and remove the metal foreign matter .


2. Vent material


Reason: There are a lot of impurities in the raw material, the feeding speed of the double-screw extruder is too fast, and the screw extrusion is unstable. Because the screw extrusion is unstable, the plasticizing temperature is not enough.


Treatment method: clean the raw materials or replace the filter screen before feeding; reduce the feeding speed, so that the screw with stable plasticization can be smoothly extruded; increase the plasticizing temperature of the double-screw extruder.


3. The host does not rotate


Reason: The power supply of the main motor of the double-screw extruder is not connected; the heating time is insufficient, or one of the heaters does not work, resulting in excessive torque and overload of the motor.


Treatment method: Check whether the main circuit of the double-screw extruder is open, check the temperature display of each section, confirm the preheating time of the machine, and check whether each heater is damaged or has poor contact.


Ⅱ. Reasons for the noise of double-screw extruder:


1. There may be a problem with the bearing of a certain part of the dual-screw extruder, which makes the machine work abnormally, and the operating current will fluctuate. The working current is too high, and it is necessary to stop the machine to check or replace the bearing.


2. The alignment of the coupling of the dual-screw extruder is unbalanced, the concave and convex are deviated, it will vibrate during extrusion, and the oil seal of the gear shaft is easily damaged, so the coupling must be calibrated to a horizontal line.


3. The main shaft of the dual-screw extruder is not tightened, especially the D-type or E-type machine. When the spindle is loose, it will move back and forth in the axial direction, the pressure roller swings obviously, the noise of the dual-screw extruder oscillates greatly, and granulation is difficult, and the butterfly spring and round nut at the end of the spindle need to be tightened.


4. The large and small gears of the dual-screw extruder are worn out. If a single gear is replaced, the phenomenon of loud noise during the operation of the machine will also occur.
